The developers of the WhatsApp messenger (owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) are launching a new feature similar to voice conferences in Discord. Group conferences start quietly and allow you to send a message without leaving the chat, according to a website dedicated to the messenger WABetaInfo.
The new feature in WhatsApp launches without any calls, and you can join the meeting using a pop-up window in the chat. During a group call in the messenger, users will be able to control the microphone, sound, hang up and write a message without leaving the chat.
In the coming weeks, the company will roll out voice chats globally for group chats of up to 33 people. The company notes that voice chats are protected by end-to-end encryption.
Earlier the messenger started test user registration via email, as well as a feature that allows users to switch between two accounts on the same device.
