RAS: in Moscow, six “cosmonauts” will be locked up for a year to simulate a flight to the Moon

On November 14, the SIRIUS-23 experiment starts in Moscow, which involves a year-long isolation of six participants, simulating a flight to the Moon. The Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences previously announced the start of an experiment at its experimental facility.
According to the scenario, the crew will go into low-Earth orbit on a promising transport ship. Next, the ship will connect with the lunar orbital station. In a month, a retrofitting transport ship will arrive to the experiment participants, and the crew will have to work for two days without a break for sleep.
During the experiment, it is planned to carry out five “landings” on the lunar surface with the participation of four “cosmonauts”. These points are aimed at assessing the influence of psychological compatibility on the effectiveness of work on the lunar surface.
The return “flight” to Earth will begin on the 362nd day of the mission and will take four days. It is also planned to simulate emergency situations in the period from the 38th to the 332nd day of the experiment.
