Maksyutov Rinat Amirovich was born in 1982 in Novosibirsk. In 2003 he graduated from Novosibirsk State University with a degree in biology.

In 2010, he became a laureate of the Academician Lev Sandakhchiev Prize for Young Scientists. His work was devoted to the development of a candidate vaccine against smallpox.
In August 2016, he was appointed Deputy General Director for Research at the Vector Center. In the same year, he took the post of general director of the institution.
Under his leadership, the Novosibirsk Center of Virology has developed EpiVacCorona, a drug for the prevention of COVID-19. For active participation in the development and production of the vaccine, Mr. Maksyutov was awarded the Order of Pirogov.
