Krasnikov Gennady Yakovlevich was born on April 30, 1958 in Tambov. In 1981 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Technology of the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology with a degree in Automation and Electronics, studied in absentia at the Institute’s postgraduate course.

From 1981 to 1991, he worked at the Research Institute of Molecular Electronics and at the Mikron plant created under it as an engineer, lead engineer, head of a module, head of a shop, deputy director. Since 1991 – General Director of OAO NIIME i Mikron. In 1999–2003, he simultaneously headed OJSC Scientific Center Concern (Sitronics since 2005), in 2005–2012 he headed the Microelectronic Solutions business area at Sitronics OJSC. In 2011-2013, he headed the board of directors and was the general designer of JSC NIIME and Mikron, on January 1, 2014 he returned to the post of general director of this company. Since 2016 — General Director of JSC NIIME (subsidiary of PJSC Mikron).

In September 2017, he participated in the election of the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences, took third place after the first round. In the same year he became a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since November 2019 – Academician-Secretary of the Department of Nanotechnology and Information Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since December 2021 – a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

He is the head of the Micro- and Nanoelectronics Department at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Head of the Department of Submicron VLSI Technology at the National Research University MIPT.

The research carried out under his leadership concerns the development of Russian microelectronic technologies, in particular, ultra-large-scale integrated circuits and complex semiconductor structures with controlled and stable electrophysical parameters.

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Doctor of technical sciences, professor. The topic of the dissertation is “Physico-technological principles and methods of quality assurance for mass-produced CMOS LSI”. Author and co-author of more than 460 scientific papers in domestic and foreign peer-reviewed publications, 8 scientific monographs and more than 50 copyright certificates and patents. He was awarded the Orders of Honor, “For Services to the Fatherland” IV degree, Friendship, Alexander Nevsky.
