Zimin Boris Dmitrievich was born on November 24, 1968 in Moscow. The son of the founder of “Vymplekom” Dmitry Zimin. Graduated from the Higher School of Economics. In 1987-1989 he served in Kazakhstan. Was in business. According to SPARK-Interfax, in the late 1990s he was a co-owner of several companies engaged in development, radio and television production, leasing, scientific research, as well as sports and transport-related activities.

In 2002, he became president of the investment company BMT Management Ltd, managing the affairs of his father, entrepreneur Dmitry Zimin. In 2004 he moved to live in London, then in the USA. Since 2004, he has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dynasty Foundation for non-profit programs, founded by Dmitry Zimin. He was a professional racer, in 2009 he won the Russian Rally Cup. He was the owner of the RPM-Driving Art racing team.

Since 2011, he has publicly supported the projects of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny, and has been one of his main sponsors. On a monthly basis, he supported the activities of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (recognized as an extremist organization, whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation; liquidated). In 2021, Boris Zimin also paid for a flight to Germany and treatment at the Charité clinic in Berlin for Mr. Navalny. He also financially supported the politician Ilya Yashin (recognized as a foreign agent).

In 2014, he founded the Sreda Foundation, which provided grants to Russian media, but a year later the organization was closed after the Ministry of Justice recognized it as a foreign agent. In 2014, he invested $250,000 in the launch of the Meduza Internet resource (recognized as a foreign agent). In 2016, together with his father, he co-founded the Zimin Foundation and the Sreda Foundation, which supported Russian independent non-profit organizations and the media. He was one of the founders of the Editorial Board award, which supported independent media. In 2018, he invested $100,000 in the launch of The Bell project (recognized as a foreign agent). In 2020, he supported protests in Belarus and sent funds to the non-profit Belarus Solidarity Foundation.

Since 2020 lives in Israel. He repeatedly spoke out against the Russian special operation in Ukraine. In September 2022, he was entered by the Ministry of Justice into the register of individuals – foreign agents.
