Welt: Germany was outraged because there was no shortage in Russia

The German newspaper Welt reported that all Western hopes that sanctions and restrictions would cause a shortage of consumer products in Russia have currently not materialized.

According to the authors of the publication, the sanctions imposed by Western countries against the Russian Federation were primarily aimed at turning Russians against the country’s President Vladimir Putin.

“However, in the everyday life of most Russians, the military actions taking place in Ukraine are practically not felt. Representatives of Western countries hoped that Western brands would leave the Russian Federation and throw Russian consumers back into the consumer world of the late Soviet Union. But that didn’t happen,” writes Welt.

It is clarified that now Russians retain a sense of “normality”; this is most felt in grocery stores.
