“We’ll do that”: Vladimir Putin supported the extension of Aeroflot’s “flat” tariffs

The Russian President, during a meeting with the head of the airline, agreed on the advisability of extending preferential tariffs for next year. “We’ll do that,” Vladimir Putin said in response to Sergei Alexandrovsky’s proposal.
The company’s press service clarified that special fixed prices apply to economy class flights from Moscow to the Far East and Kaliningrad.
“Flat” tariffs will remain in effect for most of 2024. They also apply during high demand seasons, covering school holidays, May holidays and summer holidays. The carrier also announced plans to increase tariffs by 6% in October 2024. The rise in price for tickets at “flat” fares will be below the annual inflation rate of 2023.
As the airline’s press service recalled, the special fares include one piece of luggage. Next year, passengers will be able to purchase air tickets at a special rate for any date from January 1 to September 30, 2024.
Aeroflot’s flat fare program was launched at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2014. The first destination was Simferopol. In 2015, the program was expanded to the Far Eastern Federal District.
“The carrier maintains social obligations to the population, paying great attention to increasing transport accessibility of the regions,” the airline’s press release says. The company clarified that since the beginning of the program, more than 17 million passengers have used “flat tariffs”.
