Bloomberg: The world’s 500 richest people earned $1.5 trillion in 2023
Bloomberg reports that the world’s richest people have managed to increase their wealth by $1.5 trillion this year.
It is noted that of the 500 richest billionaires on Earth, those who own technology companies have seen their fortunes grow the most. The agency said that despite the risk of recession, persistent inflation, high interest rates and geopolitical turmoil, they increased their wealth by $658 billion, or 48% on an annual basis. Bloomberg cites the hype around artificial intelligence (AI) as one of the reasons for this.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index named businessman Elon Musk the richest, beating French tycoon and LVMH head Bernard Arnault to take first place in the ranking. Musk has earned $95.4 billion this year after losing $138 billion last year.
