“We need to burn it out”: the director of Orthodox radio urged “to live according to the Old Testament”

Judging by the words, Yevgeny Nikiforov sees himself as a punishing Judge. I wonder why? Why does anyone even decide that he has the right to execute or pardon? Yes, and in the name of God?

Yes, in the Old Testament the Lord is not so kind and gentle. There was Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Great Flood, according to the Bible.

By the way, the cleansing of the earth from all ancient sinful humanity, for that matter, came from water, which washes away excess, and not from fire, which burns out all life in general. Not only people, but also animals and plants, which certainly cannot be reproached for being “pagans,” as the speaker said.

According to the Holy Scriptures, there were no man-made punishments for mankind. The Great Flood did not happen because someone opened the tap, the water itself gushed from the sky, it is immediately proposed to administer the Supreme Court man-made.

Let’s be clear then. Regarding the purification by fire – how did the visit of Woland and his retinue to Moscow end? By fire. Who set the fire – Koroviev and Behemoth.

And they certainly had nothing to do with goodness and light.

But, according to Yevgeny Nikiforov, such an approach is “completely Christian.”

In fact, the Christian God is not about cruelty and revenge, but about love. “I say to you: love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who offend you…” – a literal quote from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. The reaction of the crowd to these words was unequivocal – to crucify.

The return to the “antediluvian” norms of law is precisely the denial of Christ and his sacrifice in the name of the salvation of mankind.

By the way, later Evgeny Nikiforov began to make excuses, saying that he simply could not say such a thing.

“How is it everyone?! That’s impossible. It’s just oral speech, it is emotional, figurative. Another thing is the real meaning. I myself grew up in Ukraine, my relatives are all there, so what? Destroy your family? No. Although they are also now very sympathetic to this Nazism, ”said Nikiforov.

Sorry, but this is not the “imagery” of Pushkin and Gogol. When the neighboring people are offered not only to “burn”, but also to “cut their throats”, referring to alleged authorities.

“Ilya the prophet,” Evgeny Nikiforov continued. “I personally took and cut the throats of three hundred servants of Valaam.”

In fact, there is an Orthodox monastery on the Russian Valaam. And Orthodox priests serve there. Somehow it is not very hard to believe that one of the most revered Old Testament saints in Christianity did such a thing.

This is true. Valaam has nothing to do with it at all. They meant the priests of the pagan cult of Baal, and these events themselves, really cruel, date back as far as the 9th century BC.

But the program, where the speaker spoke, is watched not only by experts in the 1st Book of Kings, in which this story is told in detail, for the rest, the “massacre on Valaam” sounded quite menacing.

And what else did the director of Radonezh mix up? Or misunderstood. Or said wrong.

In the beginning was the Word. The word spoken publicly and written down remains forever.

You cannot clearly and unambiguously formulate what you want to tell the world, you get confused in concepts and facts, then it is better to remain silent. In order not to harm … Do not cause enmity and hatred.

Otherwise, later we will be indignant at the persecution of Orthodox priests in Ukraine. So official Kyiv refers to such words, from which, to be honest, the hair on the head stands on end. Maybe it’s not for nothing that this video has spread so widely and right now. Maybe its purpose is just to harm?

Last year we already had one leader who called for the drowning of children of the wrong nationality. Later, however, he apologized.

Personally, I’m scared. That there are people who are given a public word, and then they judge all of us by their emotional statements.
