Residents of Chelyabinsk have been complaining all summer about the lack of hot water. “We can’t wash properly. The pipes are old, thin, they are not changed, they are only patched. For several months now, residents of different districts of Chelyabinsk have been complaining about the lack of hot water.

A resident of the house on Chicherina Street described the situation: “We had a planned shutdown of hot water, they promised to turn it on on July 25th. No so far. When it will be given is unknown. Everything was excavated near the house, but workers and equipment are not visible. We are tired of warming basins. The situation repeats itself year after year. The pipes are old, thin, they are not changed, they are patched. Breaks them often. Hot water is turned off even in winter along with heating. This year the situation is quite terrible. According to local news, some houses have been standing without heating since the beginning of summer.”

The second interlocutor Olga lives in a residential area of ​​Chelyabinsk, on Kuibyshev Street.

– In our district, nine high-rise buildings were left without hot water. Almost all summer we can not wash properly. In May there was a pressurization. Then interruptions with water began – they turn it on, then turn it off. One day a pipe burst in our house. No wonder: everything is rusty, does not stand up. Sat without water. Then a pipe burst in my apartment, the water was turned off again. And on July 25 we were finally deprived of hot water. On August 1, repairmen arrived, changed something and admitted: we’ll do it here, it’ll blow up in another place. On that day, the water was turned on, and after 2 hours it was cut off again. I called the administration of the city, district, housing office – they kick me everywhere.

On August 16, they gave water for several hours, and in the evening it was gone again. The district administration says: wait until the troubleshooting. There are children and old people in the house. My mother-in-law is 96 years old, she broke her collarbone, so I can’t wash her. She is crying. One pregnant neighbor with two children carries water, heats it to wash the child.

Nobody cares about us. The whole city is full of leaky pipes. They explain: there are many impulses, few teams, they can’t cope. It is clear that not everyone wants to dig into pipes for a meager salary. We are already ready to take shovels and dig ourselves to fix the problem.”

Chelyabinsk citizen Maxim joined the general chorus of indignant: “The problems with hot water began about 5 years ago. Previously, water was turned off only for the period of pressure testing for two weeks. Then they began to turn off more often, even in winter, along with heating.

Last year I installed a water heater in my apartment, because I know that water can be turned off at any time and for any period of time. So during this time while the water heater is standing, I did not use it for only two months.

This year, from July 4 to August 15, hot water was turned on for 5-6 days. And recently they put up an announcement on the house: in connection with the repair work, there will be no hot water. It didn’t say when it would appear. They said: it is better to endure a summer without water than a winter without heating. Although in winter they are also turned off at any time.

Judging by the reviews of people in our microdistrict, the situation is not the worst. In others, the water was turned off in May and still has not been given. Or turn it on for a week, then turn it off again. And most importantly, there are no guarantees that we will not be left without heating in winter.”
