Washington clarifies what will include the “Israeli model” of security guarantees for Ukraine

Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Affairs, revealed the details of the so-called “Israeli model” of security guarantees for Ukraine. In the context of this approach, the US promised long-term military assistance, intelligence, cyber support and other measures for Ukraine. The idea of supporting Ukraine according to the “Israeli model” was previously proposed by President Joe Biden.
Sullivan explained: “The concept is for the US, along with other allies and partners, through a multilateral agreement, to develop bilateral security commitments with Ukraine on a long-term basis.”
Joe Biden intends to discuss this “Israeli model” of security assurances during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Vilnius, as well as with G7 partners and other allies, Sullivan added during the briefing. After that, more detailed discussions and negotiations will be held with Ukraine to develop the terms of support. However, congressional approval will eventually need to be obtained, as such support requires additional resources.
