Wadomosci: Earthquake in Turkey overgrown with conspiracy theories
[ad_1]
After the devastating earthquake in Turkey, conspiracy theorists who suspect its man-made origin became more active on the Web. One of the most popular theories connects catastrophe with the operation of the American HAARP system in Alaska.
There are 58,000 posts on social media discussing this possibility. Users also point to the appearance of a lenticular cloud in Turkey at the end of January and the restless behavior of animals as the forerunners of the tragedy.
The HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) system was created to conduct research on the northern lights, electrical and magnetic properties of the Earth’s ionosphere.
Director of the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Robert McCoy, categorically denied any connection of the system with earthquakes. This is a low power high frequency transmitter capable of causing minor effects in the ionosphere for a few seconds. In addition, the facility operates only a few hours a year.
At the same time, there were rumors that in relation to Turkey, someone applied the so-called tectonic weapon. We are talking about a system that can somehow influence the occurrence of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other seismic events. The name was invented by the Soviet seismologist Alexei Nikolaev.
It is officially stated that it does not exist. But it is known that developments in this direction began during the Cold War. The Soviet Union and the United States conducted underground nuclear tests to determine their ability to cause powerful aftershocks.
According to some reports, scientists were able to release the energy of tectonic plates. But the use of such weapons can lead to completely unpredictable consequences. It is impossible to control such a weapon, its action is indiscriminate.
