WADA was unhappy with Russia’s plans to hold the Friendship Games

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has expressed concern about the World Friendship Games being held in Russia. They believe that without WADA’s control, the health and fairness of the tournament participants could be jeopardized.
In this regard, WADA urges “caution and not legitimizing this event, as the agency cannot vouch for an anti-doping program that may or may not exist.”
The agency also recalled that “RUSADA does not currently comply with the code, there is currently no WADA-accredited laboratory in Russia, and overall confidence in the anti-doping system in Russia remains low.”
Earlier, Director General of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova said whether the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) could prohibit an organization from conducting testing at the Friendship Games or prohibit WADA-accredited laboratories from accepting doping samples taken at this tournament for research.
The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service warned that the United States will try to disrupt sporting events in Russia, in particular, the World Friendship Games. In Washington, they pin their hopes in this matter on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and its head Witold Banka.
