WADA commented on the idea of creating the “Olympic Games on steroids”
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has responded to the idea of creating an Olympic Games for athletes who dope. WADA said the incident did not deserve attention.
It was previously reported that the co-founder of PayPal and Palantir, American billionaire Peter Thiel intends to organize the Olympic Games for athletes who use doping and steroids. According to the source, the first such competitions could take place as early as 2025. Athletes, swimmers, gymnasts and wrestlers will take part in them. Thiel’s idea is that tournament participants can use doping honestly and openly right in competition. The Games themselves are planned to be held every year with the support of Enhanced Games, a company engaged in the research of food and biological additives.
According to representatives of Enhanced Games, 900 people have already applied to participate in the steroid Olympics, and both former and current athletes will be able to compete. The organization believes that people have the right to make their own choices in matters relating to their own bodies, and not depend on sports federations and national governments. However, some experts saw this initiative as a danger to health and sports.
The billionaire wants to present his project on April 17, and in the summer he plans to visit the Summer Olympic Games in Paris to meet with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach.
