Russian fashion designer and People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Zaitsev was buried at the Zhegalovsky cemetery in the city of Schelkovo (Moscow Region). He died April 30 at the age of 86.
Earlier today, May 4th, passed farewell ceremony in the Cathedral of the Life-Giving Trinity in Shchelkovo. It was attended by more than 100 people, including stylist Sergei Zverev, singer Nadezhda Babkina, president of the Russian Silhouette Charitable Foundation Tatiana Mikhalkova.
Vyacheslav Zaitsev died in intensive care at a hospital in Shchelkovo due to gastric bleeding. In 2016, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, he was partially paralyzed and could not move without assistance.
Mr. Zaitsev is a laureate of the State Prize, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. He became the first Soviet designer to open his own Fashion House, his collections were shown in Paris, New York, Munich, Florence and Tokyo. During his career, Vyacheslav Zaitsev has also designed stage costumes for more than two dozen Moscow theaters, including the Satire Theatre, the Moscow Art Theater, the Vakhtangov Theatre, the Mossovet Theater and Sovremennik.
