Voting in the presidential elections abroad will take place in March at 288 polling stations in 144 countries, as well as in the city of Baikonur. This was reported by CEC member Pavel Andreev.
At the same time, on January 31, the Central Election Commission announced that 269 polling stations (plus 7 in the city of Baikonur) would be opened in 143 countries for the elections. Now 12 more sites have been added to them, one of them in Moldova. Also, ten sites will be opened in Abkhazia and one in Cyprus. Polling stations abroad can be opened by the heads of foreign institutions no later than five days before voting day (March 9).
Head of the State Duma commission to investigate facts of interference of foreign states in internal affairs Vasily Piskarev said, that, according to him, this spring foreign agents abroad will stage a series of protests near Russian foreign institutions. The Russian Embassy has already asked the German authorities to ban rallies at Russian diplomatic missions on election day.
This year, for the first time, presidential elections will be held over three days: from March 16 to 18. There are only four candidates on the ballot approved by the Central Election Commission: Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (KPRF), Vladislav Davankov (New People) and self-nominated Vladimir Putin.
