Voronezh “Fakel” did not allow “Orenburg” to win on their home field

On Sunday, March 31, in Voronezh at the Central Trade Union Stadium, Fakel hosted a visiting team from Orenburg. The final whistle sounded at 2 pm. The MIR round 22 match of the Russian Premier League began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the terrible tragedy at Crocus City Hall.

Our team’s starting line-up included Belenov, Senkhadzhi, Bozhin, Cherov, Masternoy, Kvekveskiri, Yakimov, Magal, Alshin, Markov and Maksimov. On the bench you could see Gudiev, Dorovskikh, Bryzgalov, Yurganov, Kalinin, Akbashev, Bagamaev, Ivlev, Motspan, Tabo Sele and Luka Bagatelia. But Khyzyr Appaev had to miss the match due to too many yellow cards.

In the first half, neither team, despite good attempts, managed to open the scoring. In the 8th minute of the first half, our players struck the opponent twice, but the Orenburg defense repelled the attacks. In the 17th minute, Magal shot from the edge of the visitors’ penalty area, but the defenders blocked the shot. In the 19th minute, another free kick was earned – Magal made a cross, and Markov headed it in. But, alas, the ball went over the crossbar.

In the 20th minute, fans watched a protracted attack involving Alshin and Cherov. The Orenburg defenders again knew how to cope, but it wasn’t easy for them.

In the 36th minute, the Orenburg attack ended with a shot, but Belenov turned the ball for a corner. In the 40th minute our players took a free kick. The visiting goalkeeper did not play too confidently on the way out and was unable to secure the ball. In the end, after several attempts, the shot took place – Maksimov made a header.

On the 43rd, the Firemen took a corner kick. Senhadji jumped the highest and shot, but the ball went over the crossbar again.

The 3 minutes added to the first half did not solve anything – the score was never opened. But after the break, in the 47th minute, Markov scored. He scored a goal, which a couple of minutes later, after a VAR review, was canceled and the score again became 0:0.

In the 59th minute, a dangerous moment arose in the visitors’ penalty area. Alshin made a great pass, but the Orenburg defender intercepted the ball and sent it for a corner. The visiting defense coped with the corner.

In the 63rd minute, Maxim Maksimov was replaced by Roman Akbashev, who almost dealt a crushing blow to the opposing team in the 75th minute. But Akbashev’s dangerous shot was blocked by the visiting defender.

In the 79th minute, Motpan entered the game instead of Magal. At the 82nd, Cherov crossed dangerously, but Yakimov was just a little short of finishing the pass. A minute later he shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went wide of the top corner.

In the 90th minute, another substitution occurred – Bagamaev entered the field instead of Alshin.

5 minutes were added to the second half, but even in extra time the teams did not open the scoring, ending the game in a draw.
