State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin instructed relevant committees to prepare measures to “prevent tragedies in schools.” As part of the development of measures, it is planned to work out the definition of “bullying” at the legislative level, as well as request information from the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General’s Office about complaints regarding bullying in educational institutions.
According to message press service of the State Duma, deputy chairmen Boris Chernyshev and Anna Kuznetsova, who deal with issues in the field of education and family policy, as well as the chairman of the Committee on Family Protection, Issues of Paternity, Maternity and Childhood, Nina Ostanina, will be involved in the creation of preventive measures. In particular, the chairman of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, Vasily Piskarev, will be involved in “working out” the definition of “bullying.”
The proposal to approve measures to prevent bullying in educational institutions appeared after today, October 7, in Bryansk gymnasium No. 5, 14-year-old student 8A Alina opened fire on her classmates with a pump-action shotgun, after which she committed suicide. She fired five shots, killing a classmate and wounding five boys. According to classmates of the schoolgirl who shot, the girl was withdrawn, had little contact with other students and did not spend time on social networks.
