Volodin called the introduction of the oil price ceiling “the decline of Europe”

The economic growth of the European Union was connected with Russia and its energy resources, however, after the introduction of the ceiling on oil prices, the times of social stability for Europeans are in the past. Such a statement in his Telegram channel published Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

“The Decline of Europe. The well-being of the European Union was built on cheap Russian energy resources. By setting a ceiling on gas and oil prices, the European states punished themselves. <...> For Europeans, the times of social stability, economic growth and low prices are in the past. Today, they finally began to admit that the best years of Europe were due to Russia and its resources,” the message says.

Volodin also stressed that the EU will be forced to purchase energy resources from the United States, which “supplies raw materials to Europe four times more expensive than they themselves consume.” According to him, the EU fell under the influence of the United States and as a result lost its subjectivity and sovereignty.

“Countries that are unable to pursue an independent policy in the interests of their own citizens have no development prospects,” Volodin concluded. He also pointed out that EU enterprises are forced to transfer their capacities to other countries, as production becomes unprofitable.

On December 3, the EU countries agreed on a ceiling price for Russian oil at $60 per barrel. On December 5, the restriction came into force.

After the restriction was established, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow would not accept the introduction of a ceiling on Russian oil. According to him, preparations have already been made for this decision. Prior to this, the Kremlin has repeatedly stressed that Russia will not supply energy to countries that join the price ceiling.
