Volodin called for a public tribunal over the Ukrainian military

Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin commented on the tribunal over the Ukrainian military, which may take place in Mariupol in the near future. In his opinion, the trial should be held publicly.

“It is important that the court session be public,” wrote Volodin in his Telegram channel. He clarified that everyone is waiting for the tribunal, except for the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Volodin also believes that the Zelensky and Kyiv regimes “have something to fear.”

“It was he and his entourage who gave orders to bomb, shoot and kill civilians: the elderly, women, children. Therefore, Zelensky is doing everything so that there is no tribunal, threatening to refuse a peaceful settlement, ”Volodin said.

The speaker of the State Duma emphasized the importance of holding a trial, since “the world community should know about the crimes of the Kyiv regime against humanity.”

In early August, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that the first tribunal over Ukrainian prisoners of war could take place in Mariupol before the end of summer. “The task is to hold the tribunal as openly as possible,” he said.

After that, Volodymyr Zelensky declaredthat the tribunal could become the “last line”, after which Kyiv will not go to peace negotiations with Moscow. The Ukrainian leader described the trial as “bullying people” and said that Ukraine would not tolerate such an attitude towards its military.

In response to the words of Zelensky, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin emphasizedthat the perpetrators of war crimes must be punished regardless of Kyiv’s statements. “All war criminals, especially neo-Nazis from Azov (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia), should be punished appropriately for all their deeds,” he said. Pushilin added that preparations for the first stage of the tribunal over Ukrainian prisoners are now being completed.
