Anastasia Volochkova amazed the audience by demonstrating the real world of dance to the capital’s public. She invited viewers to the show “Obsession,” which she herself has been obsessed with for several years. The audience did not remain indifferent to the ballerina’s work – they have been talking about the show for several months now, and the audience agrees: Volochkova gave a very worthy performance. MK journalists witnessed this.
It would seem that since Volochkova is a ballerina, everyone expects only ballet on stage. But here, unexpectedly, contrary to stereotypes, the audience saw a real performance. The show was beautifully designed technically: lighting effects, a huge screen, a corps de ballet, 60 people on stage. The audience saw different types of dances – from classical ballet to tap and hip-hop, which were very harmoniously combined with the musical component, performed in a symphonic arrangement. It even came to the music of Rammstein and Led Zeppelin. And, of course, the ballerina herself, in different incarnations and outfits, sometimes aroused well-deserved admiration…
According to Anastasia, she has long wanted to show a show in which she would openly talk about the difficult realities of her life. I was waiting for the right moment. And it seems that it has come.
— People ask me why I called the show “Obsession”? It’s just that each of us is obsessed with something in this life. I am obsessed with creativity, love, kindness, and the ability to remain human. In general, I have my own obsession. What is happening now, this performance is the embodiment of my dream. I wanted to show the whole extravaganza of my life: ups, downs, disappointments, love, destruction, restoration and the ball of hypocrisy that happens in my life. To talk about all this in one show, which I’ve been dreaming about for twenty years.
Did you bring a strong personal element to the show?
“In general, this performance is really about life,” says Anastasia. — The plot is familiar to many: the retinue meets the prima and applauds her. But the Joker turns on, a negative hero who perceived the success of the prima ballerina as his own defeat. He is against the happiness of the prima ballerina, so he persuades his retinue, and all these people who kiss hands today suddenly turn into spiteful critics, into envious enemies. The Joker even persuades his partner, who is in love with the ballerina, to betray her by promising false benefits in the form of money and success. But the most important thing is that the partner agrees to this.
– What about the ballerina?
“The ballerina is far from a fool, she’s already been through all this. The retinue thought that she had driven Nastya crazy, but she defeated Volochkov. You know, in fact, if you went through what I went through in life, you would also go crazy. In order not to go crazy, you need to be Anastasia Volochkova: have such fortitude, will and endurance, and at the same time a sense of humor and self-irony. Only with such qualities can you go through life the way Volochkova goes. In general, this is my life on stage.
It is noteworthy that while working on the play, Nastya encountered problems from the series “there would be no happiness, but misfortune would help.”
“There was a lot of opposition to this project, betrayal from people who left the project without starting work. But it’s okay: I’m even grateful to them for this. Because thanks to this betrayal, those people appeared on whom I could rely. For example, German Pravotorkhov, the production director, who also plays the role of the Joker, and Rinat Arifulin, my partner. We met at the Bolshoi Theater. I have a lot in common with him. We have been working together since 2000 on the same stage, this is my close friend. We lived together and had a close relationship when I separated from my daughter’s father. And he, by the way, treated my daughter better than her own father. Rinat is a very faithful person both in work and in life,” said the artist.
At the beginning of the action, the audience also saw young Volochkova, or rather, the heroine who played her. According to Nastya, this was done for an important purpose: “This is my message to the children, which says that if you want, you can achieve whatever you want.”
At the height of the show, Anastasia’s fans, who filled the whole hall, had the opportunity to see interesting details of the ballerina’s personal life. For example, footage of her wedding. When Nastya got married, some young viewers were not yet born, so they were given an exclusive opportunity to watch the actress’s wedding video. Moreover, the audience saw Volochkova in a wedding dress on stage.
