Volcano Shiveluch threw out a ten-kilometer pillar of ash

The eruption of the Sheveluch volcano in Kamchatka continues. On April 12, at about 10:00 local time (02:00 Moscow time), the volcano threw out a column of ash 10 km high above sea level. This was reported in Kamchatka branch Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The ash plume is about 350 km. “The process is ongoing,” the branch added.
The organization also published photographs from the village of Klyuchi, where ashfall is observed. The images show buildings and the ground completely covered in a thick layer of ash.
The eruption of the Shiveluch volcano began on April 10. Nearby settlements were covered with ashfalls, they become strongest in the last 60 years. The thickness of the layer of volcanic ash in four hours of the eruption reached 8.5 cm.
