Vladislav Ovchinsky: super-flexible cable for industrial robotics created in Moscow

In Moscow, they created a super-flexible cable that can work properly even after several million folds. The authors of the domestic development were design engineers of the research and production enterprise “Spetskabel”.
“Moscow manufacturers continue to work actively in the field of scientific research and their own developments that contribute to the substitution of imported goods on the market. At the same time, local products are of high quality and are many times superior to foreign counterparts in terms of key characteristics. For example, a new development of the Moscow enterprise Spetskabel will help meet the needs of the Russian market for highly flexible installation cables for industrial robotics. It is important that mainly domestic materials are used to manufacture the new cable,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Moscow Investment and Industrial Policy Department.
According to him, tests show that the resistance of the capital cable to bending is several times higher than that of European analogues. The new wire also has a small bend radius. This makes it possible to use it in robotic technological systems, for example, on automatic production lines or machine tools with numerical control. The required flexibility was achieved thanks to new technologies for bundled stranding of copper conductors from a large number of thin wires. The company is preparing to start production.
