Furry smaller brothers will now be able to get a chance to quickly return to their owners if they get lost. RFID medallions for collars were developed by one of the metropolitan companies. Inside such a decoration, all the necessary data of the animal will be “sewn up”: its gender, nickname and owner’s contacts. In addition, a QR code with duplicate data will be applied to the medallion.
“ISBC has been developing and manufacturing state-of-the-art RFID products for 20 years. One of the areas of work is the creation of goods for the identification of animals,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of the capital.
He clarified that the jewelry will look like a small keychain with an embedded NFC tag and a QR code.
Using the device, the finder of a neglected animal can read information using a smartphone. The tag is made of epoxy resin, and an aluminum sleeve is placed at the attachment point. It protects against abrasion. The keychain is protected from moisture and dirt. It has a weight of only 3 grams, so it is suitable even for miniature breeds of animals.
According to Nikolai Boyarov, director of the company’s animal identification department, VETTAG medallions not only provide easy identification of an animal in case of loss, but also serve as a stylish addition to the image of a pet. The solution is especially relevant during travel, as a pet can easily get lost in an unfamiliar place.
