Vladimir Putin awarded the status of veterans to the border guards participating in the battles

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed previously adopted by the State Duma and the Federation Council amendments to the Veterans Act. Now the border guards who “performed the tasks of repelling an armed invasion” in the territories adjacent to Ukraine, the DPR and the LPR will receive the status of combat veterans. They will also be able to claim the status of combat invalids in case of injury.
State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin explainedthat we are talking about granting the status of veteran and invalid of military operations to FSB servicemen who perform tasks on the Russian-Ukrainian border and border territories adjacent to the special military operation zone. According to the speaker, the border guards contribute to ensuring the security of Russian citizens and deserve the support of the state, risking life and health, solving a responsible task.
Veterans and invalids of military operations are entitled to monthly payments, they can claim compensation for the cost of housing and capital repairs, free medical care in departmental hospitals and service in a number of institutions out of turn.
July 14 President signed the law granting veteran status to civilians taking part in a special operation in Ukraine, such as doctors, repairmen, etc. Similar status may get employees of the people’s militia of the DPR and LPR. Combat veterans already recognized participants in the military operation in Ukraine.
