Traffic is open on two main tracks on the section MCD-2 Ploshchad Trekh Vokzalov – Kurskaya

At the MCD-2, the builders completed ahead of schedule the most difficult stage of the reconstruction of the Three Stations Square (former Kalanchevskaya) – Kurskaya section. The launch of traffic on the two main tracks on this section is a very important stage, given that it combines several railway stations in Moscow.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and General Director of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov attended the opening of traffic along the new routes.

According to the mayor, the reconstruction will double the capacity of MCL-2.

“The most difficult stage has been passed,” Sobyanin noted. — Additional main tracks have been built, two railway overpasses and three overpasses have been built.

Next, the Kiev-Gorky Diameter will be opened. The creation of MCD-4 will make it possible to unite all seven stations of the capital. Thanks to this, 44 transfers to other MCD and metro stations will be organized.

On the eve of the Day of the Railwayman, the mayor thanked the employees of the Russian Railways for such a significant gift for the country and the city.

The start of movement along the two main tracks reduced the interval between the supply of trains to six minutes. With the reverse movement, organized for the period of reconstruction, it reached 18 minutes.

On the second track, 147 pairs of trains will run daily.

Oleg Belozyorov noted that the decision to implement the project can be called historic, and it became possible to implement it only with close cooperation between Russian Railways and the city.

To date, the Ploshchad Trekh Vokzalov – Kurskaya section is 67% ready.

The final completion of the work is planned for the spring of 2023, that is, 1.5 years earlier than planned.

In addition, according to the project, a practically new station will be built here, which will include the MCD-2 and MCD-4 platforms with a common passenger terminal.

The Kalanchevskaya-Kurskaya section is located next to residential buildings, therefore, in order to reduce the noise impact from the movement of trains on the railways, it is planned to create 1.86 km of retaining walls. Noise barriers will also be erected, and the tracks will be seamless. Muscovites in the apartments of nearby buildings will have windows replaced with special double-glazed windows.

At present, the MCD-2 island platform has been launched at the station. For passengers, the first half of the lobby with an elevator is available, escalators work, turnstiles are installed. Muscovites and guests of the capital are provided with a comfortable and convenient access to the platform.

The other half of the lobby and the second platform will try to open next year.

According to experts, when MCD-4 is launched, the number of passengers on this section will increase to 27,000 per day.
