Vladimir Putin announced three indexations of pensions

The issue of pension indexation was raised during the Direct Line and press conference with Vladimir Putin. A pensioner approached the head of state and said that in January next year the pension will be increased by 7.5%, while the payment for housing and communal services in his region – the Novosibirsk region – will increase from nine to 14.
“In fact, they will eat up that 7.5% supplement to the pension,” the man said.
The head of state promised to look and analyze the situation with tariffs for housing and communal services in the Novosibirsk region.
“Indeed, pensions are expected to be indexed by 7.5%. I hope that this will not be lower than inflation. We indexed for previous years, most recently: in December 2022 by 10%, in the spring by more than four percent about inflation, from the beginning of 2024 there will be another indexation – 7.5%. But tariffs have not been raised since last year, and it is planned that they will increase only in July next year. During this time, there will be three pension indexations, which in total will amount to more than 23%,” Putin said.
According to the head of state, tariffs should be raised gently, and citizens’ incomes should also be monitored.
The head of state recalled that if a family’s expenses for housing and communal services exceed 22%, then the family has the right to receive a subsidy. In some regions, Putin noted, this threshold is even lower.
