Vladimir Boyko, one of the founders of the Gulyai Pole group, passed away: a blood clot broke off

One of the authors of the MK anthem was found dead at home with a phone in his hands

Composer, arranger, sound engineer, talented musician Vladimir Boyko, one of the founders of the popular Russian band Gulyai Pole, passed away on Monday. As Yuri Gorodetsky, who, together with Vladimir Boyko, created the Gulyai Pole group, told MK, the talented musician and his great friend died on February 6.

“He died yesterday,” Yuri Gorodetsky told us, “a blood clot broke off. Volodya already had a life-threatening situation five years ago. But then our friends from the Botkin hospital literally performed a miracle and saved Volodya. Today, no one had time to see him.

Vladimir didn’t even call an ambulance?

Apparently, he didn’t. They found him with a phone in his hand. But it is not known who he tried to call. Maybe I, or maybe he wanted to call an ambulance.

– You’ve created a group together all your life, haven’t you?

— Yes, it was. We have been close since 1983. Yes, you all know…

Yuri Gorodetsky talked to us while in the morgue, and we did not distract him from his bitter, but, alas, necessary duties. And the group “Walk the Field”, Yuri Gorodetsky and Vladimir Boyko in the editorial office of “MK” really know very well. The musicians often performed at different venues represented by MK. Moreover, they are the authors of the Moskovsky Komsomolets anthem.

Vladimir Boyko and Yuri Gorodetsky met back in Soviet times – at the rehearsals of the propaganda team of the Kuban State University. In December 1989, Vladimir Boyko and Yuri Gorodetsky recorded several new songs in semi-home conditions (some of which later became part of the Gulyai Pole repertoire) and became, along with Igor Talkov, the Lube group, Oleg Gazmanov, the founders of a completely new then musical genre. In November 1990, three more musicians joined Boyko and Gorodetsky, including later the drummer of the Lyube group Alexander Erokhin, and the name of the group appeared, which soon became known to everyone – “Walk the Field”.

The team performed literally everything at their concerts: from rock music with elements of author’s and folk songs to Soviet hits, the group’s performances were always popular. Vladimir Boyko, who at the time of his death was only 60 years old, was a full member of the international Detective Club, one of the leading performers in the theatrical rock suite “Yesenin Sergey”, a talented musician in every respect.

Farewell to Vladimir Boyko will take place in the church in honor of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious in Odintsovo on February 9 at 12 o’clock.
