Since the beginning of December, a significant number of dangerous weather events have been recorded in Russia. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, said that usually the winter months are much calmer than the summer months.
He noted that this December will be historic due to the large number of hazardous events associated with cold weather and snowfall. Usually in winter the number of such phenomena is several times less than in summer.
According to Vilfand, in winter there is no factor of explosive convection, which makes the weather calmer and more predictable. He explained that in winter there are no convective processes such as thunderstorms, heavy rain and increased wind, which are often associated with dangerous phenomena.
Earlier, the meteorologist warned of expectations of abnormal cold and heavy snowfall in the coming days in a number of regions of Russia.
