Industrial production in Moscow increased by 3.1% in January compared to the first month of the previous year. As Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations, specified, the growth of manufacturing industries amounted to 3.3%.
“The growth of the capital’s industry confirms the resistance of the city’s enterprises to external economic pressure. As a result of January, industrial production in Moscow increased by 3.1% compared to January last year, while manufacturing enterprises increased output by 3.3%,” he said.
Efimov added that such development is largely ensured by the support of the city of Moscow. For example, last year alone, about 400 enterprises received assistance.
According to Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Investment and Industrial Policy Department, last year the capital’s manufacturing industries increased output by more than 10%. The production of electrical equipment and clothing has grown significantly. The positive dynamics has continued since the beginning of this year.
In total, more than 3.5 thousand industrial sites operate in the city. More than 20% of them are large and medium-sized plants. Over 200 enterprises produce medical devices and medicines, and the same number produce food products.
It should be noted that more than 20 systemic assistance tools and a number of anti-crisis mechanisms continue to work to support the capital’s industry.
