Vice Mayor Efimov: the work of the Moskvich plant can be resumed by the end of the year

The leadership of the capital plans to resume the work of the Moskvich plant before the end of the year. This was announced by Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Yefimov on Thursday, September 8, during a speech at the Moscow Financial Forum.
“We plan to resume work (of the Moskvich plant) by the end of the year, and so far everything is going systematically towards this,” RIA Novosti quoted Yefimov as saying.
The Vice Mayor added that today there is a significant decrease in sales in the car market, about 30% of the total sales a year earlier.
“The market is looking at the situation, it cannot be said that it is optimistic, no one is building the plans that were earlier, but with the release of new companies, including Chinese ones, we are seeing a gradual recovery in the market,” the speaker added.
He noted that the resumption of work of AvtoVAZ is also a plus.
Recall that in late spring, the French automaker Renault handed over its Renault Russia plant to the Moscow government. Soon the name of the enterprise was changed to “Moskvich”. According to the company’s plans, the plant will produce four crossovers and a sedan. First, a SKD assembly will be launched, in the future – the production of cars from deep localization on its own platform.
