Industrial production in Moscow increased by 3.1% in the first month of the year compared to January of the previous year. As Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Yefimov specified, the growth of manufacturing industries amounted to 3.3%.

“The growth of the capital’s industry confirms the resistance of the city’s enterprises to external economic pressure. At the end of January 2023, industrial production in Moscow increased by 3.1% compared to January last year, while manufacturing enterprises increased output by 3.3%,” he said.

Efimov added that such development is largely due to the support of the city. For example, in 2022 alone, about 400 enterprises received assistance.

According to Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Investment and Industrial Policy Department, last year the capital’s manufacturing industries increased output by more than 10%. The production of electrical equipment and clothing has grown substantially. The positive dynamics has continued since the beginning of this year.

In total, more than 3.5 thousand industrial sites operate in the city. More than 20% of them are large and medium-sized plants. Over 200 enterprises produce medical devices and medicines, and the same number produce food products.

It should be noted that more than 20 systemic assistance tools and a number of anti-crisis mechanisms continue to work to support the capital’s industry.
