Vice Mayor Efimov: hospitality sector turnover in Moscow grew by a third

The revenue of restaurants, hotels and travel agencies of the capital increased by an average of one third in June-August this year compared to the same period last year.
“In June-August 2022, the turnover of the capital’s hotels reached 23.9 billion rubles, which is 17.8% higher than last summer. Restaurants and cafes over the same period earned 140.2 billion rubles, which is 56.7% more than in the same months of the previous year,” said Deputy Moscow Mayor for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Yefimov.
This growth was facilitated by the abolition of anti-COVID measures, as well as an increase in domestic tourism.
Travel agencies in Moscow in June-August received revenue of 235.3 billion rubles, which is 44.2% higher than in the summer months of 2021.
According to the Department of Economic Policy and Development, the number of checks in the hospitality sector was also growing. The number of transactions at hotels in the summer of 2022 increased by 19% and amounted to 4.3 million, while restaurants and cafes increased attendance by 32% to 203.6 million checks. Travel agencies issued 16.8 million checks, up 42% from last year.
The average check in the catering establishments of the capital in June – August 2022 increased by 19% – up to 689 rubles. In the field of tourism services rose by 2% – up to 14 thousand rubles.
