Deputies of the State Duma (DG) will go on vacation from April 24 to May 7, reported Vedomosti with reference to a document signed by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
The order states that “in exceptional cases, if it is necessary for a State Duma deputy to exercise his powers,” a parliamentarian can be recalled from vacation with his consent. With the end of the holidays, on May 8, the deputies will go to the regions from which they were elected.
The long May weekend in the State Duma began to be practiced with the arrival of Mr. Volodin to the post of speaker, the interlocutor of the publication in parliament pointed out. Before that, the deputies rested from mid-July to early September (42 days) – now this period has been cut by two weeks in favor of holidays in early May.
Deputy leave of 42 days is associated with a class rank, which is assigned to parliamentarians as federal civil servants (minister level), expert Pavel Sklyanchuk explained to Kommersant. In July last year, speaker Vyacheslav Volodin suggested cutting vacation time to 28 days. The initiative was not implemented.
