Varlamov and Slepakov challenged the status of foreign agents – Kommersant

Video blogger Ilya Varlamov and producer, artist and musician Semyon Slepakov, through the court, demanded that the Ministry of Justice remove their status as foreign agents. Applications were received by the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow, a representative of the court said TASS. The date of the meeting has not yet been set.

Mr. Varlamov was introduced to the register of foreign agents in March. The Ministry of Justice justified the decision by stating that the blogger “distributed false information about the decisions made by public authorities and their policies, received support from foreign sources.”

Mr. Slepakov received the status of a foreign agent in April. Ministry of Justice declaredthat he “received support from foreign sources, opposed the special military operation in Ukraine, formed a negative attitude towards military service and civil service in general, and spoke negatively about citizens of the Russian Federation.”
