The likelihood of contracting COVID-19 is increased among smokers of electronic cigarettes and vapes. This was announced by Elena Samyshina, a member of the Moscow City Duma commission on economic and social policy, the chief physician of the city clinic No. 3 of the Moscow Depzdrav.
The deputy illustrated the information that smoking electronic cigarettes reduces the body’s immunity to coronavirus with the results of scientific research.
Elena Samyshina said that an experiment conducted by biologists showed that due to the specific substances present in a pair of electronic cigarettes, cells become more vulnerable to the virus.
“Scientists have connected various brands of electronic cigarettes and e-liquids to a special device that produces vapor in the same concentrations that normally enter the body. After that, the team treated the cells with this steam and followed their reaction to the luminous dummies of SARS-CoV-2 particles, ” told parliamentarian on the course of the experiment.
Samyshina added that such a feature of the body should be taken into account both by smokers themselves and by physicians.
