USSR Central Television announcer Galina Zimenkova has died – Kommersant

Honored Artist of Russia, announcer of the USSR Central Television Galina Zimenkova died at the age of 82, reported “First channel”. The farewell will take place on January 2 at 11:00 in the church on Festivalnaya Street.

TV presenter Dmitry Borisov said in Telegramthat Mrs. Zimenkova was ill for a long time and died in a rehabilitation center. “It’s a hard fate, my son died. I tried many times to treat him for addiction, but to no avail. Left completely alone. And if it weren’t for my closest friends, I would probably have left even earlier,” the TV presenter wrote.

Galina Zimenkova was born in 1941 in Kazan, graduated from theater school and the Leningrad State Institute of Culture named after N.K. Krupskaya. In Soviet times, she was an announcer on Central Television for more than 20 years. She hosted the “Time” program, the holiday “Blue Lights”, “Meetings near Moscow”, “Let there always be sunshine” and other programs. Mrs. Zimenkova also taught: in Japan she taught students the Russian language, in Moscow she taught speech techniques and camera skills.
