USC: The Navy will receive two new nuclear submarines “Alexander III” and “Krasnoyarsk”

Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexei Rakhmanov said that Sevmash will hand over two newest nuclear submarines to the Russian Navy this year. We are talking about the strategic “Alexander III” (project 955, “Borey-A”) and the multi-purpose submarine “Krasnoyarsk” (project 885, “Ash-M”).
Sevmash, as noted, has picked up the appropriate rhythm, thanks to which it again delivers to the customer one or two nuclear submarines a year. This was the case in the previous two years, and, as Rahamnov hopes, it will be in 2023 as well.
Submarines of project 955 “Borey” and modernized 955A “Borey-A” belong to the fourth generation of nuclear submarine missile carriers. They are armed with 16 Bulava ballistic missiles and carry out tasks of strategic nuclear deterrence. The Russian Navy now has six such submarines.
Project 885M Yasen-M multi-purpose nuclear submarines are armed with Caliber and Oniks cruise missiles, and in the future they will be equipped with Zircon hypersonic missiles.
