US Marines to be allowed to wear beards and turbans

Sikh US Marines will be allowed to wear beards and turbans, RIA Novosti reports.
The corresponding decision was made by the US District Court in the metropolitan District of Columbia, RIA Novosti refers to published documents. Sul considered the claim of several Sikh Marines who sued the command of the Marine Corps.
According to the lawsuit, the refusal to allow the wearing of beards and turbans is illegal, as it violates the “spiritual vows and canons of faith” of the Sikhs. The command of the Marines, in turn, argued that such a move would threaten the “statutory uniformity, equality, army discipline, training and official duties” of the Marines. In addition, it was stated that it was impossible to use a gas mask with a beard.
At the same time, in other branches of the US armed forces, the US has already agreed to meet the Sikhs halfway, also under pressure from lawsuits.
