The US Embassy told the State Duma that it has nothing to tell the deputies about biological weapons
Representatives of the US embassy in Moscow told TASS that the US diplomatic mission had declined an invitation to Ambassador Lynn Tracy to attend a meeting of a special commission of the State Duma on April 18 to provide clarifications on the activities of American biological laboratories in Ukraine. Earlier it was reported that Vasily Piskarev, head of the State Duma commission to investigate the interference of foreign states in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, sent an invitation to Ambassador Lynn Tracy due to the fact that US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland did not send clarifications to the corresponding request.
“We declined an invitation from the State Duma addressed to Ambassador Tracy to attend a meeting of the commission of the State Duma of the Russian Federation,” the embassy said in a response to the agency’s request.
The message of the US diplomatic mission in Moscow also contains a formal answer to questions that, presumably, could be asked in the State Duma. In particular, it says that the United States “fully complies with its obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention, does not develop or possess such weapons anywhere,” and that all relevant questions have already been allegedly removed in the content.
“We consider this process of consultations with Russia completed and closed,” the authors of the American embassy’s response note, emphasizing that the American side has “nothing to add or discuss on this issue.”
