US allocates new $325 million military aid package to Ukraine

Washington has allocated a new $325 million security assistance package to Kyiv, reported on the Pentagon website.

The package included, in particular, 15 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and 10 Stryker armored personnel carriers, additional Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems. The United States will also transfer additional Stinger anti-aircraft systems, ammunition for NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems and HIMARS artillery missile systems, 155-mm and 105-mm artillery shells to Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will also receive more than 22 million cartridges for small arms, communications equipment, explosives, spare parts for equipment and field equipment.

“The United States will continue to work with its allies and partners to enable Ukraine to meet its immediate battlefield needs and long-term needs for security assistance,” the Pentagon said.

This aid package, already the 40th in a row since 2021, is the allocation of weapons from the warehouses of the US Department of Defense, which is authorized by President Joe Biden.

Last week, June 9, the Pentagon announced on a $2.1 billion aid package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the program for the purchase of military products from defense enterprises, designed to provide long-term assistance to Kyiv.

At the end of May, the Pentagon estimated the volume of military assistance allocated to Ukraine at $37.6 billion. Over 1,700 portable Stinger air defense systems, 10,000 anti-tank Javelins, more than 60,000 anti-tank systems and ammunition, the same amount of supplies for the Grad system, etc. were delivered to Ukraine.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly pointed to the involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine. In September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian army in Ukraine is opposed to “virtually the entire military machine of the collective West.”
