Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny led the preparations for the operation to blow up the Nord Streams, the Politico newspaper writes.
According to the publication, the operation was planned for June last year. Then intelligence of the Netherlands found out about the plans. Allegedly, Zaluzhny led the operation, in which a small group of divers traveling on a sailboat was supposed to take part. The Dutch intelligence services contacted Washington, and Washington contacted Kiev to warn against such steps.
In June, the operation did not take place, but as a result, the gas pipelines were blown up in September. Ukraine officially denies its involvement in this.
