Unprecedented wedding excitement on the Day of fidelity on July 8: how to get married without money

Russians planning to get married still want to do it on the Day of Love and Fidelity, as evidenced by the record number of applications submitted to Russian registry offices for the cherished July 8th. But there is also a new “marriage” sign of the times, noticeable in the “wedding” chats, where preparations for the event are discussed. Pre-pandemic newlyweds, who managed to coincide with the celebration of the holiday of Peter and Fevronia, either organized wide festivities on this summer day, from which they flew away on their honeymoon, or (in case of a lack of funds) did without a banquet and a trip at all. The current ones found an intermediate option, which they told us themselves.

On the eve of the favorite holiday of the couple, hotels in different cities of the Russian Federation are already preparing “special” offers. Their argument is that a honeymoon trip does not have to be long, you can feel like you are in a resort and simply rent a honeymoon suite in a hotel in your own or neighboring city.

– Yeah, and 6500 per night, – comments on such appeals 27-year-old Denis from Tuchkovo near Moscow, whose marriage to his beloved fell on Saturday, July 8th. – Alenka and I don’t have extra money to throw them away for this. We will not cover the “glade” for the crowd either. Friends tell me, they say, people even take loans for such a thing, the first wedding should be to the fullest. But Alena and I are against the holiday for our wedding, and not only because of the economy. There is no mood to have fun when this happens in the country.

– Why, then, did they make up a statement for the Day of Love and Fidelity? This is usually needed for those who intend to celebrate widely.

– The fact of the matter is that we do not want to “just come”, “just sign” on any day. I said that we would not have a banquet – that is, a feast with toasts and dances. But the wedding “commotion” will definitely be, it’s hard to call this gathering of our friends just a party. And we really need Peter and Fevronia!

It turns out that the couple conceived the “wedding quest” almost at the same time as they planned to get married. Initially, there was an idea to invite only “paired” mutual friends – married and in a long-term relationship – and through the quest to test them for love and loyalty to each other. But then the bride and groom decided that the singles should also be called and divided into pairs.

– How can you check for loyalty in a game?

– It is very possible, if you read the original story about Peter and Fevronia, – Alena answers. – Another thing is that we did not find a ready-made quest on this topic, everything that we offer to couples to test feelings, based on all sorts of Western films. And participation costs from 5 thousand per person, allegedly because professional actors are involved there. And then it dawned on me and Denis. For our wedding “commotion”, we will spend only on renting a hall in a local recreation center, and on light snacks a la buffet. And we will “put” the quest on our own. It will turn out to be something between a performance and a quiz, but all to the music, in the outfits of the era in which Peter and Fevronia lived. In the process of action, couples will find themselves in situations that require each to make a decision. And now it will just tell about how much this person loves and is loved, whether he is faithful to his half and whether they are faithful to him. Several other couples who got married on July 8 admitted to non-standard plans. Some, for example, gathered on a honeymoon trip, but not to a beautiful far away, but to their own city, “in the footsteps” of Peter and Fevronia. Their honeymoon trip differs from the excursion in that it also includes the wedding night – but not in an expensive bridal suite of a local hotel, but under the moon and stars in a tent on the banks of the local river.

– Since this will not be our first night, but still the first as legal spouses, we called it “a wedding dream on a July night,” the resourceful Murom lovers laugh. – Yes, our plans are lofty, it’s only a pity that the reasons for them are mundane. We simply don’t have money for anything else. But that’s no reason not to get married!

But a couple from Moscow, although they planned to register a marriage for the Russian holiday of Love and Fidelity, fly to Tbilisi to register a marriage.

– Why register without fail on July 8, if you still do it outside of Russia?

– The reason is very earthly, – the bride answers, asking not to give her name. – My fiancé is a Russian man, he has been living in Moscow for a long time, but he has an American passport – it just so happened. And with this passport in the Russian Federation, we simply do not accept an application. They require a certificate from the United States that he is not married there. And across the ocean they do not understand what kind of certificate this is. Or they just don’t want to. And in Georgia there is the city of Sighnaghi – it’s like Las Vegas in America, marriages with foreigners are registered there, without asking too many questions.
