Almost half of university graduates have average or very low skills in the profession acquired during training. These are the results of a study conducted by experts from the Moscow City Pedagogical University.

Employers say that highly qualified specialists in the creative industry are quite a rarity, while young specialists still have a motivation for creativity, are ready to learn, respect other people’s opinions, and quickly adapt to new realities. This allows them to quickly retrain them, or rather “adapt” them to the needs of the enterprise they came to work for.

What specialists are lacking in the creative industries? The search for an answer to this question was devoted to the study of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, which was called: “The ideas of employers about the necessary competencies for the development of the creative economy of Moscow.”

According to the author of the survey, Anastasia Belolutskaya, head of the laboratory for assessing professional competencies and adult development at the University, almost 46% of respondents – HR specialists, owners of companies representing the creative industries, believe that the level of knowledge, skills and abilities of university graduates of the last 3-5 years working in their organizations is average, below average, or very low. Every fourth expert believes that universities produce personnel that most likely do not meet the needs of the employer.

Respondents noted that qualified specialists who work in the field of creative industries should have the following skills: the ability to generate ideas, clearly explain current tasks to performers and work in a team, the ability to quickly reorganize activities if conditions change, the ability to understand and accept constructive criticism, have your own original handwriting in your work. It is also very important that a person be able to create products at the intersection of different areas, for example, IT and literature, quickly adapt to external requests and think critically, distinguishing facts from opinions.

University graduates will be able to achieve such skills only if educational institutions begin to interact more actively with employers, for example, they begin to conduct internships and internships in companies, involve employees of enterprises in the development of curricula and educational programs, and organize excursions to production facilities.
