The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation published a rating of the most popular areas that were chosen by applicants entering secondary and higher educational institutions last academic year.
Thus, the most popular areas in SPO are: “Equipment and technology of land transport”, “Economics and management”, “Jurisprudence”, “Engineering”. By the way, according to the Ministry of Education, approximately 60-70 percent of ninth-graders and 20-30 percent of eleventh-graders choose to study at colleges and technical schools. On average, the competition in SPO last year was 2.5 people per place, but up to 34 applicants applied for the direction of “information security” in some colleges.
According to experts, the reason for such popularity of vocational education is associated with several factors: a high percentage of employment after graduation – up to 80 percent, the prospect of a good salary. This academic year, the trends in admission to secondary vocational educational organizations should continue: computer security, programming, medicine, services, car repair and transport logistics will continue to be the most popular.
As for universities, according to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the most popular last year included: biotechnology and genetic engineering, pedagogy, psychology, advertising and PR, software development, design of technical devices, web designer, investment analytics data. This year, the “trend” will continue, and in the next academic year, a new area of study will appear in Russian universities – eSports disciplines, and admission to them will be carried out by both technical and humanitarian higher educational institutions.
