Universities have completed the admission of students to budget departments

One wave of admission to universities justified itself. It is this position that the rectors of many Russian universities adhere to.

In the capital, a press conference was held by the rectors of Russian universities, who discussed the results of the admission company to the institutes this year. As stated, firstly, the admission company is successful and on time: on August 9, all the country’s universities posted on their websites the general lists of first-year students who entered the budget in all areas. Until the end of August, admission to commercial departments will be held. Secondly, there has been a significant increase in enrollment in engineering and technical specialties and the average USE score of children who enter them has grown. For example, over eight years, the average USE score for applicants to NUST MISiS increased from 62 to 83.

Thirdly, the cancellation of the second wave of enrollment, which, by the way, is taking place for the second year, has led to someone, that applicants, “sharpened” for admission to this particular institution, began to apply to higher educational institutions. And, fourthly, in one wave it was possible to close almost the entire budget admission, at least in large cities and large universities and in engineering and technical specialties. In some places, state-funded places remain in regional universities, but this is due to the fact that almost 73 percent of state-funded places “left” specifically to the regions.

– We are in Moscow, where there is a fairly strong and unique system of training and career guidance for schoolchildren, children in the early stages of education can figure out what they are interested in. And move from one profile to another,” said Vladimir Miklushevsky, rector of the Moscow Polytechnic University. – Such experience of the system of secondary education should be adopted by the regions. In this case, the success of the school graduate’s admission to the budget will increase.

According to the rector of the Russian University of Economics. G. P. Plekhanov Ivan Lobanov, universities in recent years have begun to work more actively on cultivating their own students. This happens by organizing preparatory courses for future applicants and organizing specialized Olympiads for them.

— This year we accepted 106 prize-winners and winners. This is almost 50 percent more than last year,” said Ivan Lobanov. – We work with talented guys – future students as part of school career guidance, trying to give these stars the opportunity not to get lost in the general mass of applicants. So that they enter us, study, then study science with us, go to the real sector of the country’s economy. This year, at the university, we allocated about 100 million rubles for internal grants.

According to the rector of NUST MISiS Alevtina Chernikova, this year the university also recorded an increase in the number of applicants who applied as winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Subject Olympiads.

“Of course, these children need special attention,” said Alevtina Chernikova. – We live in a unique time when we are witnessing a massive demand for a personal approach in education. And we are aware that these requests will be not only for Olympiads, but also for those talented children who are not winners of school intellectual competitions. Therefore, we are developing individual educational trajectories so that our students, already in their first years, are looking for their dream company, their life’s work. The main thing that we must give our students is the ability to learn and the desire to learn.

At the end of the press conference, the rectors advised freshmen to make the most of the opportunities that universities now give them, since the material and technical base of the institutes, their programs, and ties with future employers are very strong. And also during the first year, finally give yourself an answer to the question: “Have I chosen the right future specialty?”. Since one year is not critical at all. And you can change the direction of study and find what you really like.
