“United Russia” nominated Vorobyov to the governors of the Moscow region

The United Russia party nominated Andrey Vorobyov, the current governor of the Moscow Region, to head the region in the September elections. This decision was taken by the Moscow Region branch of the United Russia at a party conference.
Support the candidacy of Mr. Vorobyov asked secretary of the general council of the ruling party Andrei Turchak. He recalled that earlier Andrey Vorobyov’s intention to go to the gubernatorial elections supported Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Andrey Vorobyov has been heading the Moscow Region since 2012 after Sergei Shoigu moved to the post of Russian Defense Minister. In 2013, Mr. Vorobyov won the gubernatorial election with 78.9% of the vote. In 2018, he was re-elected to the post of Moscow region governor with a result of 65.2% of the vote. The next elections for the head of the region will be held on September 10, 2023.
