“Unfortunate Peach cried”: Smolensk teenager was suspected of systematic execution of animals

Residents of the village of Shabanovo in the Smolensk region have been living in constant fear for their dogs and cats for some time. They have a flayer who shoots cats and dogs point-blank with pneumatic weapons – and it doesn’t matter if they are domestic, homeless … People suspect one of the local residents – a minor teenager, but the police are still in no hurry to confirm their assumptions.

In the small village of Shabanovo, which is only two kilometers from Smolensk, some sadyuga shoots cats and dogs. “I really want the fanatic to be found and punished as soon as possible. Among other things, if this is not stopped, then tomorrow people may be in the place of the animals,” a villager told us.

A few months ago, a homeless dog, everyone’s favorite in the village, was wounded by an unknown “shooter”. The dog survived, although it was left without an eye… Then the village resident, who turned to the police, was denied a criminal case, citing the fact that the dog was ownerless.

According to local residents, four animals were found with bullet wounds, and some cats and dogs simply disappeared.

Recently, one of the next victims of the flayer was the red cat Peach, in which his owner does not care. This time, the police took a statement from its owner. Ryzhik went for a walk and did not return at night (although he was always absent for a short time). The next day, the owner found him huddled in the corner of the booth on the terrace. He was covered in blood. Veterinarians recorded five bullet holes in the cat (on the right paw, between the nose and the right eye, in the nose; the cat’s sinuses, upper palate, tongue, jaw were also pierced). According to the owner of the cat, the police officer suggested that “the cat was driven into a corner and shot point-blank.”

“I took two of my 13 cats to the veterinary clinic for ultrasound and saw this unfortunate shot cat,” a village resident who picks up and nurses homeless animals told MK. – He was brought on a drip, since he himself could not eat, everything in his mouth was swollen. His eye was red and swollen, one of the bullets nearby entered. He was crying, poor fellow… But this non-human must be found and punished according to the law. I am very worried about my pets, I try not to let them out …

The maximum punishment that threatens the Smolensk flayer is three years in prison. Meanwhile, local publics reported that there is a suspect: this is a minor teenager who was given an air rifle by his parents.

“I hope that the police will detain this flayer,” Oleg Goncharov, head of the Prigorsky rural settlement (which includes the village of Shabanovo) of the Smolensk district of the Smolensk region, shared with MK. – I myself love animals very much, my eldest son is a veterinarian. Local residents suspect a teenager. What do parents think about when they buy such “toys” for their children? And can it even be called a “toy”? For what purpose did they buy this for a child? To shoot accurately? Well, take him to the shooting range …

However, the police did not confirm the information that there is a suspect.

“It’s too early to talk about the suspect,” Natalya Gureeva, head of the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk region, told MK. – A criminal case has been opened under the article “Cruelty to animals”. An investigation is underway. Earlier, a resident of the village of Shabanovo turned to the duty unit of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk region, who announced the fact of animal cruelty. According to him, at night, an unknown person, presumably from an air pistol, shot at least 5 times at his cat, as a result of which bodily injuries were caused to the animal.

… As MK found out, the village of Shabanovo is small, there are about 50 houses in it. It seems that it is not difficult to figure out which of the inhabitants has a pneumat. The police would be willing.

It is noteworthy that among the residents of the district there were many who blamed the consequences of the “execution” on the owners who did not look after their pets.

– Self-walking for animals usually ends like this! says one of the residents. – Do not let your animals out on the street without supervision and there will be no such situations!

However, animal rights activists say that even if a stray dog, and not a domestic one, suffered, the police have no right to refuse to accept the application.

“If this happens, then you need to contact the prosecutor’s office for police inaction,” the animal rights activist with the nickname “Do good” told MK. “We once had a flayer kill a stray dog. We wrote a statement to both the police and the prosecutor’s office, after which a criminal case was opened against this person. They took it to court. The killer was punished.
