Racial discrimination continues to persist in American society. UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Racism Ashwini K.P. stated this during a briefing.

The special rapporteur said that she visited several American states from October 31 to November 14. During the visit, she noted that many US citizens continue to face ongoing systemic racism and racial discrimination.

According to Ashwini, initiatives put forward by the US government have not yet led to significant improvements. They do not adequately address the issue of white supremacy.

The UN specialist believes that the United States is at a critical stage in the fight against racial discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance.
