Israel and the Palestinian radical movement Hamas are considering the possibility of exchanging hostages using the “children for children” formula. This information is reported by the Israeli state television and radio company Kan, citing its sources.
The proposal was put forward during negotiations with the participation of mediators from Qatar and the United States. According to sources, the proposal calls for the release of Israeli children imprisoned in the Gaza Strip in exchange for Palestinian children held in Israeli prisons. Negotiations are still ongoing and no final agreement has yet been reached.
The situation in the Middle East has deteriorated significantly since the infiltration of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. As a result of this incident, more than 200 hostages were taken, including women, children and elderly people. Radical groups explained the attack as a response to the actions of the Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. In response to this, Israel declared a complete blockade of Gaza and began carrying out counterattacks on the enclave, as well as striking certain areas of Lebanon and Syria. Conflicts also emerged in the West Bank.
